Lazarus Foundation
1st 5K Run/Walk for Education

September 17, 2005, the Lazarus Foundation had its first 5K Run/ Walk for Education. We were able to donate to the Metropolitan Council of Government in Washington, D.C. The funds will go towards providing much needed educational assistance to students in foster care. There are over six thousand students in the Washington, D.C. area in foster care. Many of the students particular those in high school have no financial support when it comes to visiting a college, paying for a college application or even an opportunity to prepare for the SAT.

The Lazarus Foundation is grateful to those who participated and supported the run/walk. We feel fortunate to have been able to provide aid to these students. They are tomorrow's people who need support today, as they prepare to become tomorrow's leaders. Our volunteers and participants can feel proud to know that they made a difference. More students in foster care now have an opportunity to visit a college, take the SAT, or even apply to college.
