On April 5, 2007 on the campus of Norfolk State University, members of the Caribbean Student Association (CSA) had their first pageant that recognizes the beauty, elegance and talent of the Caribbean. One finalist from each island was selected to represent their Island in front of a panel of judges to be selected as the Miss. Caribbean Royalty for 2007. The Pageant is one way CSA tries to educate the community about the beauty, culture and customs of the Caribbean. This year’s winner was from Trinidad and Tobago, Miss. Jewell Friday.
Well, a key person involved in this process and who worked hard to help make the program a success was Cary Lazarus. The Lazarus Foundation sponsored this event, securing and awarding scholarships to the top three contestants of the pageant. Cary not only represents the Lazarus Foundation, but he also work for the Office of Information Technology and is the advisor for the Caribbean Student Association at Norfolk State University. Cary, for the last two years, has advised and helped to organize fundraisers to help fund events hosted by Caribbean Student Association. He will continue to work diligently to support students and inspire them to be great leaders. For all his hard work and dedication, the Caribbean Student Association recognized Cary by awarding him with the Advisor of the Year Award presented to him during the conclusion of the Caribbean Royalty Scholarship Pageant. The Lazarus Foundation is a proud sponsor of the Caribbean Student Association at Norfolk State University which continues to host impressive events such as the Miss. Caribbean Royalty Pageant. The Lazarus Foundation is extremely proud of the Caribbean Student Association and we are committed to assisting those interested in enriching the campus of Norfolk State University and the surrounding community.
